Our recently completed house extension in Little Venice continues our thread of interventions to architecturally sensitive buildings. In this instance, the building in question was a Grade II listed Victorian semi- detached house in the very desirable Little Venice neighbourhood of West London.
Our brief was to inject a breath of fresh air into the property, whilst keeping some of the splendid features and character that our client had fallen in love whilst first viewing the property. This led us to focus our intervention on the lower ground floor, which was where most of the original features had already been removed by the previous owners.
In order to create a more family friendly space in the lower ground floor we chose to free up some of the internal partitions and add a rear extension that would draw more natural light into the property. The extension, consisting of by a high tech stainless steel frame with glass inserts, becomes a bold addition to the house which, we believe further enhances the beauty of both architectures by virtue of their contrasting nature.
