The proposal for 20-21 Hoxton Square is to create a simple and modern building which sits confidently alongside the group of listed buildings by replicating their main cladding material -the brick- as well as picking up the main height lines and rhythms of their fa?ade. The scheme will provide a high quality, contemporary addition to the square while being sympathetic to its historic neighbours and the conservation area. The proposed building responds to the scale and proportions of the adjacent buildings and to the character Hoxton Square generally. Each elevation has been informed by the various site constraints which adds to the variety and architectural complexity of the building.
Overall, the scheme delivers sensitively designed yet high quality contemporary architecture on a challenging site. Making excellent use of important brown-field land in this urban context, the proposals will enhance and sustain the character of the conservation area.
