For this conservation area, Grade II listed home, our brief is to create a self-contained basement 'granny flat' with its own external access as well as a rear extension. Our proposal is to allow the rear extension to connect and open up the ground a lower ground floors in a way which will easily allow for a much need kitchen expansion and a larger airier living space which translates easily into the outdoors for the summer month. By taking advantage of the property's front and back gardens. the forward facing basement flat can be built more economically and with greater ease and natural light wells do not disturb the rest of the home or detract from its privacy. An internal lower ground courtyard connects the granny flat to the rest of the house but also allows far independent access to the street. We aim to show our clients how despite the bulk of the budget inevitably going towards the new basement a few simple interior changes can make a world of difference to a home such as this one.
